Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE The Librarian is responsible for administrative, professional and clerical functions of the library, including organization, maintenance, and promotion of the library. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintaining the library at the level of acceptance for state and accrediting agencies. 2. Establishing and achieving library goals. 3. Responsible for managing assigned budget for library services. 4. Researching and responding to student, faculty and administrative requests for information. 5. Teaching and training staff and students how to perform effective online searches. 6. Maintaining updated knowledge of U.S. Copyright Law. 7. Keeping, compiling and reporting library statistics. 8. Assisting with the development of research instruments for Westwood College/departments. 9. Teach 2-3 courses every ten weeks. 10. Performing any other duties, as assigned. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. When applicable, responsible for supervising any assigned student workers. 2. When applicable, conducts performance reviews for assigned student workers. JOB QUALIFICATIONS At the time of hiring Westwood College faculty and education department managers are required to hold a completed graduate degree from a U.S. regionally or nationally accredited university. In addition, state licensing and national accrediting criteria apply. Faculty with international credentials are required to present an official U.S. degree evaluation by AACRAO or NACES recognized evaluation agency. 1. MLS required or other education related Masters degree. 2. Experience in the management and operation of libraries. 3. Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software. 4. Strong oral and written communication skills 5. Strong attention to detail
