Job Description

Lead an innovative and accomplished public library, continuing outstanding levels of service and effective resource sharing. The City of Longmont seeks an experienced library leader—responsive to staff and community needs and skilled in focusing the efforts of a team of talented professionals—as its next Library Director. The Longmont Public Library is a single location, municipal library that participates in regional consortium. With 85 staff (45 FTE) and a budget of $3.5 million, the library serves a vibrant community of more than 95,000 people.

Responsibilities. The Library Director, under the direction of the Director of Community Services, has overall responsibility for leadership and management of an award-winning library that pursues leadership and innovation in library service. Duties include strategic and operational planning, budget and financial management, personnel development, program development and evaluation, and community engagement. The Director works with the Library Board, staff, other Community Services divisions to establish the strategic vision for the Library - aligning its mission with community needs and priorities. The Director serves on the Board of Directors for the Flatirons Library Consortium and participates in the statewide library community and professional activities.
