Job Description
Role: Coordinates circulation processes, procedures, equipment and the movement of materials throughout the libraries.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
25% - CIRCULATION EQUIPMENT & PROJECTS – Develops and implements policies and procedures in relation to the circulation of library materials throughout the libraries; coordinates and leads projects relating to circulation functions, checking and RFID equipment installation in order to coordinate circulation processes and projects; maintains shelving inventory and assembles and disassembles physical shelving units. E
20% - PATRON ASSISTANCE – Troubleshoots and problem solves patron issues with materials that are checked out and missing, and resolves complaints in order to provide patrons with information about materials questions. E
15% - INVENTORY CONTROL – Coordinates the inventory of collections and flow of materials by use of the Digital Library Assistants, the circulation automation system, and couriers; oversees contracts with vendors who provide equipment, service and software solutions; trouble shoots technical issues; provides technical support to employees; inventories shelving; researches new technologies and identifies areas of improvement in order to maximize inventory control efficiencies. 10% - DEBT COLLECT – Coordinates the collection of overdue fees and fines, manages contract, implements practices, mails late notices, and maintains notice formatting in the Integrated Library System (ILS). E
10% - COURIER MANAGEMENT – Creates courier schedule, coordinates special delivery requests, acts as a back up for Delivery Driver in their absence, and negotiates contracts with outsourced courier services. E
5% - TRAINING & REPORTS – Trains employees on circulation procedures and processes; analyzes statistical reports, provides interpretation of analysis, and uses data to make recommendations for improvement. E
5% - ILS CIRCULATION – Coordinates and operates the circulation processes and features in the ILS database, manipulating system to reflect organization practices/procedures and provides input to the functionality of the system in order to maintain usefulness of ILS. E
5% - BUDGETING – Identifies resources needed to provide services, forecasts expenses to provide the services, recommends the annual cost of providing the services, and monitors expenditures throughout the year; allocates fees and fines collected to appropriate departments and libraries in order to maintain department budget. E
5% - OTHER DUTIES – chairs committees, and assists Department Manager in order to ensure the smooth operation of the department. N
Education:
Bachelors Degree
Experience:
Two years of related experience working in a library.
Valid Colorado Driver’s License and a good driving record.
Or any combination of education and experience which provides the success factors
