Douglas County Libraries is currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated Department Head, Youth Services. This position is responsible for assisting the Branch Manager with professional and managerial duties in the operation of the branch, in cooperation with other professional staff.  This position serves as person-in-charge (PIC) of branch in the absence of the Branch Manager, as well as any other times as needed. The Department Head is responsible for management of the Youth Services department, including the staff schedules, training, coaching and development of staff.  Work is performed with considerable independent judgment and initiative.

 WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A leader who will identify and assign staff members’ off-desk duties, district committees, and projects in addition to Storytimes and Special Projects.
  • A role model in demonstrating the library district’s “patron first” philosophy, and as a resource person in serving patrons and resolving problems.
  • Ability to collaborate with and support our volunteers, enabling the organization to achieve our goals and fulfill our mission/vision.
  • Ability to create positive experiences for library patrons by effectively and efficiently performing job tasks; presents a positive image of the library in attitude, communications and appearance while performing duties in both the public and staff areas.
