This position is located at the Boulder Labs Library in Boulder, Colorado and will perform the following duties:
These duties are described at the full performance level (FPL) GS-12, the GS-11 is developmental leading to such performance.
The Boulder Labs Library provides information resources and services to the U.S. Department of Commerce scientific agencies located in Boulder, Colorado including the National Institute of Standards and Technology, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and National Telecommunication and Information Administration. Work at the foot of the beautiful Flatirons rock formations - Walk to nearby creeks and hiking trails - Bike trail accessible! Join one of the pre-eminent research laboratories in the world!
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience OR substitution of education for experience OR combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. Transcripts must be submitted with your application package. You MUST meet the following requirements:
A. Degree: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree;
B. Combination of education and experience: A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
