The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency and interest in current and emerging technologies, will be skillful in providing assistance to diverse populations, will be adept at providing instruction services and eager to share knowledge with our patrons.

Position: Full-time, exempt position. Ability to work evenings and weekends, required.

Pay:  $47,476 - $53,550

Role: Responsible for identifying and interpreting user needs; providing reference, advisory, computer, database and referral services to Library patrons directly, and by telephone; assisting patrons with material selection and technology.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

75% Reference and Advisory Service: offers advisory and reference services on the floor, conducts Book-a-Librarian sessions, answers phone hunt group questions, provides computer and technology support to patrons; provides floor coverage as needed. Staff Support: provides technical/reference support to paraprofessional staff on the floor and mentors staff by offering shadowing/consulting opportunities.

15% Web Content: Creates web content using Bibliocommons platform.

10% Professional Development: advancing the professional knowledge and networking through attending professional conferences and keeping up-to-date with the current professional trends.

Qualifications:

MLS or MLIS degree, required.

Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to successfully work with varying demographics, required.

Ability to be mobile 100% of the time and sit as needed; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds, 10% of the time, required.

Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.

Advanced technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook, required.

Ability to travel to other work/library locations, as needed, required. 

Evidence of ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a changing environment.

Ability to interact effectively with patrons and staff.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.

Ability to demonstrate knowledge of library and information science theory, information creation, organization, and delivery as it applies to the Arapahoe Library District.

Ability to exhibit leadership skills including critical thinking, active listening, risk taking, and creativity, regardless of position within the organization structure.

Ability to communicate openly, directly, clearly and respectfully with customers and colleagues to advance the interests of the library.

Ability to comfortably present information in a clear and engaging manner in dealing with customers and colleagues one-on-one or in groups, in formal and informal settings.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.

Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.
