Job Description

Are you passionate about student success? Do you think outside the box when it comes to developing solutions that support the scholarly, instructional and learning goals of a growing university community?

Ranked #1 for innovation three years in a row by U.S. News and World Report, Arizona State University has become the model for higher education. Serving as a critical gateway to the university’s growing research enterprise, ASU Library is actively engaged in building a 21st century academic library that reflects ASU’s vision of excellence through its accessibility and impact.

To this end, ASU Library seeks a highly motivated, collaborative and service-oriented librarian to lead its newly established STEM Division (science, technology, engineering and math), comprised of a diverse team of librarians actively engaged with students, faculty and the community in innovative ways.

The STEM Division Head will model, explore and enact new workflows that both challenge and invite librarians to deliver high-level service through liaising, embedding, workshopping, innovating, teaching and participating in research with students, faculty and the community university-wide. The successful candidate will help to create a positive, dynamic service atmosphere, fueled by opportunity and trust, and will contribute to an organizational growth mindset by encouraging learning and experimentation.

This leader will provide open door availability and consultation along with substantive and timely evaluative feedback as needed for all team members. She/he must work successfully with campus partners across ASU departments and institutes, and seek to build strong relationships with ASU faculty, across disciplines and programs, in an effort to advance research and student learning. Most critically, the STEM Division Head will be committed to students’ academic success at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Engagement and Learning Services, this senior position is one of three division heads for ASU Library, and is responsible for a team of librarians serving the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, which accounts for one-quarter of ASU’s student population.
