Job Description

This position is the primary contact in the Math Physics Library for the Serials and Preservation department. The employee in this position: a) tracks and reports missing issues of journals and prepares unbound journals for binding; b) works with the Preservation Department in the case of poorly bound or mismarked journals; c) scans the stacks for material needing binding and repair; d) trains students to aid with the tasks above; e) assists at the circulation desk and with reference inquiries; f) acts as the backup for processing the reserve collection; g) runs lists monthly on new books for the funds associated with the branch; and h) is responsible for the overall supervision of the Math Physics Library in the absence of the Library Technician III and the Faculty Director.

Additional Info & Requirements

Note: This position is a part-time, 50% position and typically works a schedule of 20 hours per week, from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm weekdays, with some flexibility possible for the right candidate. Minimum Requirements: Two years full time (or equivalent) of general library experience involving typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials which must have included administrative experience with an online library system. Highly Desirable: The ideal candidate will have experience working in an Innovative Interfaces library system and experience working with serials. Substitution: Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of library science course work may substitute for two years of the general library experience, but not for the specific administrative experience with an online library system.
