Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Prescott Valley Library is in search of a passionate, creative professional who will be instrumental in developing the library's vision and strategic plan for tomorrow!  The Library Public Services Manager will be proactive, highly organized and dedicated to advance library services that better serve our community.  This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and people-oriented manager with proven administrative, fiscal and public service experience.

Assists in the overall management of daily library operations, budgeting and administration.  Directly supervises and participates in the work performed by staff throughout the library.  Responsible to oversee Public Services which includes the Adult, Teen and Children's divisions.  Promotes and provides outreach regarding services and collections. Resolves staff and/or customer conflicts and concerns to maintain a fair, safe and productive work environment.  Develops and evaluates access to resources to meet the needs of the community. Plans and evaluates library programs that communicate the importance and value of library services in a digital age.  Assists with grant administration, purchasing and the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, reviews and approves other financial records.  Overall assists the Library Director in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, and priorities with direct planning responsibilities for programs and functional areas assigned. We are not looking for someone to simply maintain the status quo but to challenge and lead our staff, department and organization to implement current best practices in all aspects of library service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Requires Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration or closely related area (Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) preferred); at least four years related experience including two years in a supervisory role; or, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Requires strong communication and computer skills, including experience in managing social media and other marketing venues.  Must be skilled in decision making, evaluating situations and taking direct action.  The successful candidate will be collaborative in nature, confident and competent, fair and equitable, a person who leads by example with the ability to influence, motivate and inspire others to align visions.  This is an exempt position that requires a flexible 40-hour work schedule to support library operational hours and activities.
