Job Description

Madison Public Library (MPL) is a dynamic organization that actively embraces the changing role of libraries, and was awarded the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. Our critically acclaimed Bubbler program has expanded through major grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.  Our eight neighborhood libraries have similarly embraced new services and technology. Madison Public Library's tradition of promoting education, literacy and community involvement has enriched the City of Madison for more than 140 years. Our nine locations throughout the City of Madison are open six days a week (with limited Sunday hours) and welcome over 2 million visits each year.

Early Literacy Project Coordinator (70%) - Pinney Play Lab project
This is professional library work that focuses on coordinating multiple concurrent early literacy projects of the library. The Early Literacy Project Coordinator will work closely with the Youth Services team to oversee and manage the library's involvement in four early childhood projects, and serve as the Library's contact for these initiatives.  This is a two (2) year grant-funded position at 70% FTE (or roughly 28 hours/ week).  The pay rate will be approximately $1,490/biweekly or $38,758/annually.

Youth Services Librarian (60%) - Sequoya Neighborhood Library
The Sequoya library is a part of a vibrant and engaged community of patrons. The busiest library in the Madison system, it is a cornerstone of Madison Public Library's summer reading program. Weekly and monthly programs regularly draw crowds of 60 -100 children and their caregivers. The Youth Services Librarian at Sequoya library will also provide outreach to the community and should be prepared to provide early literacy, early STEM, and innovate school age programming to maintain these community partnerships. This is a two (2) year grant-funded position at 60% FTE (or roughly 24 hours/ week). The pay rate will be approximately $1,277/biweekly or $33,221/annually.
 
The successful candidates for these position will possess exceptional customer service skills, a willingness to be flexible, and have a keen interest in collaborating and brainstorming with colleagues on a regular basis.
 
Schedule will vary and may include some evenings and weekends hours as required.
