Job Description

What You'd Do

Assist with coordination of the New Americans Program grant funded programs at 10 locations of the Denver Public Library. Work closely with program team on grant activities to help implement successful programming. Assist with statistics and information gathering, survey administration and grant report preparation. Work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers. Other duties as assigned to assist the New Americans Project.

This is a fully benefited, limited term position funded through August 1, 2020. Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically made at or near the range minimum.  

The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include regular evening and occasional weekend hours.

You Have

Knowledge of programming. Skill in providing excellent customer service. Skill in presenting information to a diverse range of ages and cultures, individually and in groups. Skill in choosing appropriate materials for programming and outreach. Ability to facilitate group conversations. Ability to exercise initiative, judgement and decision making in problem solving and meeting organizational objectives. Ability to relate to the needs of customers of all ages, skill levels and cultural backgrounds, including those without English language proficiency. Ability to gain knowledge of library resources to help target audience, including ability to assist with basic reference tasks as assigned. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, co-workers and community. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multitask and prioritize. Ability to use extensive workplace and other technology including email, internet databases, eMedia, Google suite tools, social media and other software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
 
A Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
 
A reliable form of transportation (position involves approximately 10% travel)
 
Two years of experience teaching or presenting information to adults.
 
One year of experience working with immigrants and/or refugees.
 
Second language fluency (Spanish preferred).
