Job Description
The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries invites applications from collaborative and innovative candidates for the position of Romance Languages Librarian. The Romance Languages Librarian will fulfill liaison duties creatively and strategically in order to enhance student learning, faculty research excellence, and emerging scholarly practices within the Departments of French and Italian, Spanish and Portuguese (which includes Catalan and Gallego), and the Anderson Language Technology Center. The Romance Languages Librarian will be situated in the Libraries’ Arts & Humanities department, which values critical, reflective, and student-centered teaching, research assistance, and outreach. Significant parts of the responsibilities of this tenure-track position are research/creative work and service, in keeping with the tenure standards of the University of Colorado Boulder.
Appointment and Salary:
Successful candidates will be appointed as full-time (12 month), tenure-stream faculty members. Rank will depend upon professional experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience and consistent with ARL averages for similar positions. Benefits include 22 working days of vacation, ten paid holidays, liberal sick leave, university group health care plans, group life insurance, TIAA-CREF administered retirement/annuity, and support for scholarly/professional activities. Tenured librarians are eligible for sabbatical leave.

- Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
- Commitment to critical, highly responsive practices in teaching and learning.
- Understanding of the information needs of researchers studying Romance languages, literatures, and cultures.

- Knowledge of scholarly communication issues and trends within higher education, especially in Romance languages disciplines.
- Reading knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Spanish, French, Italian, or Portuguese.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to contribute effectively and respectfully with colleagues on collaborative projects.
- Potential for research, scholarly work, and professional service.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (such as Spanish, French, Latin American studies, etc).
- Experience providing reference and/or instructional services related to Romance languages and/or area studies.
- Experience in an academic or research library.
- Experience with grant writing or fundraising.
- Experience participating in collection development in world languages, in an academic or research library.
- Experience developing innovative learning opportunities to enhance research and/or teaching.
- Experience engaging in collaborative projects and programs at the local, regional, national, and/or international level.
- Strong knowledge and ability in multiple Romance languages (especially Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, or Catalan): fluency in one or more of these languages, and reading knowledge in two or more.
