Job Description

What You'd Do

Create lifelong library customers by implementing services designed for customers of all ages and backgrounds seeking technology instruction and use. Plan and deliver technology programs for families and children of all ages. Provide one-on-one and group training to customers and staff on the use of various types of technology, ranging from using a mouse to 3D printing and web development. Develop and implement customer and staff technology training, instruction plans and materials. Act as a main point of contact for staff and customers seeking assistance with computers and technology, including staffing a busy public service desk. Communicate effectively with customers, staff, and administration. Work with other organizations to provide technology programs at other locations in the community.

The Community Technology Center (CTC) is the technology access and training hub for Denver Public Library. The CTC is located on the 4th floor of the Central Library and currently consists of a two technology classrooms, a one-on-one consultation room, a video conferencing room, a large public access computing area with 120 computers, and ideaLAB--a digital media lab and makerspace. In addition to offering a variety of technology classes and programs at the Central Library, CTC staff also offer tech training and programs at other DPL branches and local community organizations.
 
The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and WILL include evening and weekend hours.
 
Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically made at or near the range minimum. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.

Skill in training a wide variety of learners. Skill in designing, preparing and implementing instruction and training materials. Skill in working with children and teens. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to thrive in a working environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to creatively solve problems, and negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Skill in communicating, collaborating and establishing effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations and the public. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with diverse customers, coworkers, and community. Ability to embrace the challenge of learning new tools, software and technology constantly. Ability to use basic workplace technology including email, internet and automated software. Ability to teach web development/basic coding/programming is a definite plus. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
 
A Bachelor's degree.

One year of experience teaching or presenting information.

Spanish language fluency (preferred, not required).
