Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time Dean of Clark Libraries and Academic Success Services. This position reports to the Vice President of Instruction. The Dean is responsible for providing leadership and administrative oversight for Clark College Libraries, eLearning, Tutoring Services, and the Teaching & Learning Center.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Leadership

  • Advocate for and represent the instructional unit.
  • Provide leadership in development of effective programs, resources, and services; oversee assessment and review processes.
  • Work collaboratively with instructional deans and unit faculty and staff.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with College departments to provide access to resources that support academic success.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication processes within unit and across the college.
  • Represent the College and collaborate with library and eLearning consortia, task forces and committees--locally, statewide, and regionally.
  • Actively support activities that promote social equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Management

  • Develop, negotiate, and monitor contracts, budgets, and grants, ensuring proper funding allocation and fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversee facility and equipment allocations within the unit.
  • Supervise directors, faculty, and assigned classified staff within the unit.
  • Create effective teams to achieve quality services
  • Create a safe, bias-free working environment that promotes cooperation and mutual respect among all employee groups.
  • Implement change management strategies that maximize employee engagement with new initiatives and resources.

 
Planning

  • Coordinate and foster collaborative planning and goal setting aligned with the College's strategic plan.
  • Remain current on educational and technological tools and innovations that promote quality academic support services and educational experiences.
  • Engage in and promote research based decision-making, input, and communication.
  • Serve on designated Clark College committees and other campus groups.
  • Participate in conferences and continuing education opportunities to enhance leadership, management, and professional knowledge and skills.
  • Provide leadership in accordance with the Vision, Values, and Core Themes established by the college to achieve mission fulfillment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of progressively responsible higher education administrative experience that includes oversight of library services, online education, professional development, or academic support services.
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in two or more of the unit areas (library services, online education, professional development, academic support).
  • Experience working at a community college.
  • Demonstrated expertise with educational technology systems supporting eLearning including LMS, Web 2.0 teaching and learning tools, teaching strategies.
