Job Description

The Garfield County Libraries are seeking a book wizard, an explorer, a scientist, an ideologue to join our team of enthusiastic librarians as Branch Manager for one of two unique branches, either the Silt Branch Library or the New Castle Branch Library.

If you are looking to make a big impact, to be a part of a highly talented team of individuals who work collectively toward being a trusted and valued resource to everyone in our communities, we want to talk to you!

The Branch Manager fosters a creative and innovative work environment; is flexible and open-minded, with a constant desire to learn more; and supports and cultivates staffs’ skills and interests.  Additionally, the Branch Manager encourages staff well-being through a healthy work/life balance; adapts quickly to change; is a creative problem-solver; and effectively communicates to all levels of the Library District.

The minimum requirements for this position include a MLS or MLIS degree from a graduate school accredited by ALA, previous supervisory/leadership experience and knowledge of the principles and practices of public library functions.  This is a full time (40 hours per week), exempt position. The annual compensation for this position starts at $52,000 (DOE), plus medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan benefits; paid vacation, sick, and holidays. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

The position is open until filled and a successful candidate can start any time January 2, 2019 or later.   View the full job description and download an application.  Submit application materials to hr@gcpld.org or fax to 970-665-1101.

The Community

Garfield County encompasses a geographical area of almost 3,000 square miles of which approximately 60% is federal public lands, and the furthest towns are 60 miles apart from each other. The population density is 19 people per square mile.

Our communities are located in beautiful valleys surrounded by high mountain desert, snowy Rocky Mountains, and several amazing tributaries of the Colorado River. A big reason people choose to live in Garfield County is the abundance of outdoor activities, including biking, skiing, soaking in hot springs, fishing, camping, and more.
