Organization & Collection Description:

Glenwood Springs Historical Society and Frontier Museum is a historic house museum displaying the 130-year history of Glenwood Springs and Garfield County. Our research library and archives houses items from all periods of our community and includes a collection of 6,000 photos.

The South Canyon Fire (aka Storm King) blazed in July 1994; ultimately taking the lives of 14 firefighters. The City of Glenwood Springs has since made a commitment to never forget and the historical society plays a big role in that. Our collection includes photos, scrapbooks and memorial ephemera from the time of the fire and subsequent memorial services. The intern would help us achieve our goal of presenting a full collection to the community on the 25th anniversary of the fire.

Please note: If you need a credited internship, include your school’s internship site requirements (hours, liability, supervisor responsibility, etc) If the historical society is able to meet your school’s requirements and you need more than 70 hours, we would have other projects available on an unpaid basis.
