Mobile Library Associate
Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is looking for a highly motivated team player to join the Mobile Services Department. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills and create a warm and welcoming environment to patrons, organizations and areas served, bringing the library to under-served populations in Wyandotte County. Will be responsible for driving the mobile library, assisting patrons always in a friendly and professional manner, performing circulation/public service desk duties, planning and implementing programming, computer troubleshooting and assisting the Librarian in the process of preparing and maintaining the collection and services.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience mix with the ability to work directly with the public in a friendly, helpful manner; will handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately; have an above average proficiency with computers and available software for patron use and have some public programming or training background to be able to participate in scheduled programming as assigned. The ability to safely drive the mobile library in all weather conditions, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff and route/stop contacts is a requirement.
Must have a good driving record and have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements to drive the mobile library bus. Must have a bright and cheerful nature and the ability to interact with the public and staff in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Physical attributes of standing, kneeling, walking and lifting up to 35 pounds as work activity, programming, set-up and daily activities may be required. The starting salary for this position is $34,500 annually. Non-exempt status.
