The Statewide Collaborative Programming Coordinator is a full time position within the Colorado State Library. The position is open to experienced information professionals with strong project management, technical and facilitation skills. Candidates should be passionate about exploring and supporting cooperative programming and resource sharing initiatives within the Colorado library and cultural heritage communities. A strong desire to make order out of chaos is also a plus, bringing together isolated items/initiatives into larger shared systems, be it technological solutions or through outreach and communications.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
- Proven proficiency in project management, communication and outreach activities.
- Experience creating written procedures and guidelines, program documentation and accurately representing a workflow crossing multiple organizations and work groups.
- Expertise working in a library or other cultural heritage organization, or affiliated educational or professional organization.
- Experience working with resource sharing and cooperative programs, such as shared data systems, consortial purchasing and licensing, or technical services.
- Profound attention to detail, while simultaneously maintaining a big picture perspective when needed.

The position will be responsible for identifying, researching, assisting and coordinating collaborative technology related programs and initiatives within the state. This would include, but not be limited to overseeing Content Management System (CMS) development and coordination for small and rural cultural heritage organizations for inclusion in the Plains to Peaks Collective initiative, identifying initiatives within the state and endeavoring to bring them to greater success through community partnerships and working in concert with others to ensure that the right people are at the table when a cooperative initiative is in its infancy or at a crossroads. This position will also be responsible for the management and administration of ongoing cooperative technology programs run through the State Library, including CVL-Collections, and the AspenCat/Marmot Digital Archive partnership.
Having knowledge of the inner workings of a library or cultural heritage organization is very important as on the ground knowledge helps provide the detailed perspective that will give credence to the work this role will be doing within the community and the relationships this role will be forming/growing. Knowledge of MARC and or other commonly used metadata standards required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project manage and assist cultural heritage organizations in sharing curated online collections with the Plains to Peaks Collective (PPC).
- Create metadata crosswalks for collection sharing with the DPLA.
- Manage OAI PMH metadata harvesting activity for PPC participants.
- Create and engage in outreach activity within the state for greater participation in statewide digital and resource sharing initiatives.
- Actively explore opportunities for statewide collaboration across library and cultural heritage communities.
- Administration of and maintenance for statewide technology initiatives.
- Liaise and communicate with others at the Colorado State Library and other library cooperatives and organizations to share information learned and strategize potential solutions to identified needs.
- Regularly contribute content to the Colorado Virtual Library online resource through the Friday Grab Bag and other blog opportunities, including engagement with diverse cultural heritage communities via communication channels and outreach. Oversee the State Library’s social media activity for consistency and effectiveness.
- Keep informed on professional developments and trends within the area of resource sharing and collaborative engagement and services. Share this knowledge with the cultural heritage community.
- Promote the Colorado Libraries Collaborate (CLC) program.
- Work with others on the Networking and Resources Sharing (NRS) team to bring services together in a more integrated environment, and cross promote services to provide greater awareness of NRS cooperative programing to cultural institutions throughout the state.

Description of Community
This position is funded by the Colorado State Library, but is administered through a cooperative arrangement with the Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC). All activities and responsibilities undertaken within this role are for the advancement of Colorado State Library initiatives and programs.

- MLS from an American Library Association accredited program or equivalent advanced degree.
- Minimum of 3 years professional experiences within the library or cultural heritage community.
- Knowledge of commonly used standards and protocols within the library community (e.g. MARC, NISO, NCIP, Z39.50…).

- Experience with consortially shared data systems and programs.
