Supervises: 0
Position: 20 hours, part-time; non-exempt.
Pay Rate: $20.58-$25.75
Role: Assists patrons with advanced search and advisory needs; develops library programs and services for multicultural patrons and provides ideas for developing New Americans Collection.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
30% LIAISON - Liaisons with ECC volunteers and ESL teachers, provides library tours and class visits, liaisons with multicultural community groups and facilitates partnerships with other community service agencies by meeting with representatives and encouraging community participation in the library in order to promote use of library services to multicultural patrons.
30% PROGRAMS AND SERVICE Provides a wide spectrum of advisory services, produces library programs, including those that promote multiculturalism; assesses the needs of multicultural patrons,evaluates the results and provides services that promote English literacy and the use of library resources and services Language and Librarian hunt group questions.
25% WEBSITE Maintains New Americans page, provides advisory services in electronic form.
15% MENTORING - Develops the knowledge, skill and ability of paraprofessional staff by mentoring them in order expand their ability to service patron requests.
Qualifications:
Two to five years of similar or related experience, required.
MLS or MLIS degree, required.
Fluency in a foreign language required. Spanish or Russian preferred.
Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.
Advanced technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook, required.
Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.
Ability to be mobile 100% of the time and sit as needed; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds, 10% of the time, required.
Experience with developing and conducting instructional programs and services.
Development of multi-cultural programs.
Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.
Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.
Ability to successfully work with varying demographics, required.
Passionate about the mission of public libraries. Comfortable with the principles of intellectual freedom.

Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
