Job Description

As a member of the Resource Acquisitions and Sharing (RAS) department, the Library Technician 3 (LT3) is responsible for responding to patrons’ purchase requests and licensing questions, and working with vendors to acquire library resources in various formats (i.e., print and electronic books, streaming videos, and other media) in a timely basis. They are responsible for placing orders using various vendor platforms, paying for and reconciling accounts, claiming orders, and addressing system problems with the appropriate company or department. The LT3 is also responsible for maintaining accurate records in the library’s ILS and working with other units to ensure content is accessible to patrons. They will be expected to cross-train, participate in and/or lead projects, in order to support in a collaborative working environment.

The person in this position will often be required to lift or push objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of current (within 5 years) experience in a Library; OR 4 years of current library experience. AND Advanced proficiency in multiple library specific computer applications, e.g., integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository; content management systems. Some positions may also require in-depth knowledge of specialty area(s), e.g., original cataloging, complex copy cataloging, serials management, ILL management, government documents, image resources, music.

Minimum two-years’ experience, within the last three years, purchasing library resources (i.e., print and electronic books, streaming videos, DVD, etc.) orders.

Minimum of one-year experience, within the last four years, using financial databases (e.g., vendor’s purchase card system, Banner, Foundation System, CORE, etc.) to reconcile department purchases, renewals and credits.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Two-years of customer service and E-Resource support experience.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSUStandard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional riminal history checks every 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of two-years experience using online bibliographic and ILS (OCLC, Primo and Alma) systems to create and manage Alma records.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

Experience working in a consortium library.

One-year of experience directing student workers, training and reviewing their assigned duties.
