Mesa County Libraries has 8 locations spread across Mesa County which is home to more than 150,000 people in 15 communities. The largest of these is Grand Junction, followed by Fruita and Palisade. The Grand Valley enjoys an array of cultural events, performing arts, museums and is home to Colorado Mesa University. Mesa County Libraries is the largest cultural institution in the county and provides specialized library services, resources, computers, books, audio and video media, literacy classes, and many other programs. Education or training associated with the completion of a four-year degree in college, vocational or technical school courses of study related to the area of assignment, four (4) years' previous acquisitions, project management, or library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience managing records in an ILS and/or inventory operations experience preferred.
Knowledge and current awareness of Library principles, practices, procedures, methods, materials, and philosophy
Knowledge of alphabetical and Dewey Decimal filing systems
Knowledge of standard safety practices
Skill in understanding and applying oral, written, illustrated or demonstrated instructions
Skill in observing groupings and identifying misplaced items when shelving materials
Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
Ability to operate a variety of library equipment in a safe and effective manner
Ability to effectively use all office technology available
