Job Description

What You'd Do

Create lifelong library customers by implementing library services designed for customers of all ages seeking popular materials and quick service. Provide readers advisory, reference assistance and adult programming. Design engaging displays and participate in merchandising of the entire collection. Participate in community outreach and collection maintenance activities. Communicate effectively about issues and initiatives with customers, staff and administration. Plan and implement fun and creative programming for babies, kids, teens, adults and older adults integrating community input combined with developmental understanding about each life stage. Make a difference in the Park Hill community by attending community functions, listening to community feedback and making decisions that reflect the community's aspirations.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, offers are typically made within the starting salary range and depend on qualifications. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.

The schedule will be determined by the needs of the branch and includes working every Wednesday evening and every other Saturday.

You Have

Knowledge of publishing trends. Knowledge and experience with developing and presenting story times for young children as well as adult programming. Skill in using and assisting customers with technology. Skill in eye-catching display design and merchandising of library materials. Skill in providing reference, readers and media advisory service to all ages. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to work with a wide variety of ages and the desire to help all who come to the library. Ability to assist and empower customers with their technology questions and endeavors. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community. Ability to demonstrate leadership skills rooted in compassion that sees each task as an opportunity to build a person to person connectedness. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to perform dynamic story times for a wide range of ages. Ability to use technology including email, internet, databases, eMedia, social media and other software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.

Experience in providing high volume, innovative library service (preferred, not required). 

A Master's in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or plans to receive one within 90 days of hire.
