Job Description

Be a part of a transformational library committed to connecting the community to new and creative resources in meaningful ways.

Under the general supervision of the Branch Services Manager, the Branch Programs and Events Librarian will provide strategic oversight, directional planning, administration and evaluation of branch programs with a focus on teens and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) programs for patrons of all ages.  The librarian will divide work time between the branch libraries and the Main Library to ensure consistent, high quality programs and events by working collaboratively with program presenters and organizations, branch library staff, other library workgroups and city departments.  The librarian will provide management and backup support to the branch managers and will serve at branch public service desks as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited program and minimum of 2 years of experience with program planning and implementation for teens, children and families in a public library setting. Proficiency with computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, web-based calendars, email and database software in performing work assignments. Interest, desire and ability to communicate courteously and effectively with, and provide services to, others including the public in person, via telephone and online. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Willingness and flexibility to work a schedule that may include evenings and weekends.  Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.  Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with event planning, marketing and effective use of social media strategies; 3+ years of experience with program evaluation, planning and implementation for teens, children and families in a public library setting and with emphasis on STEAM and teen programs.  Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.  Spanish language fluency is highly desired.  Experience working with Latino community groups.
