Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
The Library Clerk I position is specialized library clerical work assisting in the operation of the library's circulation and providing exceptional customer service to library patrons. Incumbents in this position welcome library users and serve as the first point of contact to an engaging and positive library experience. This includes actively greeting customers, observing and responding to their needs, and assisting in creating a customer-friendly environment for library users. Position requires working some evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the willingness to travel to work at both City library facilities.
There are currently openings for two part-time, benefited positions. Each position will work 20 hours per week. Hours for position one are anticipated to be: Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Monday 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The hours for position two are anticipated to be: Monday, 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.; Thursday, 1:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.; Friday, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. The City of Westminster offers a bonus of up to $1,500 per year depending on the employee's fluency in Spanish, Hmong, and/or Laotian.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
Required:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Cash handling experience
- Strong experience and skills in providing superior customer service: helpful, friendly, energetic, and adaptable
- Interpersonal and judgment skills necessary to work effectively with Library users, staff, and visitors
Preferred:
- Experience in general library work
- Above average computer skills
- Bilingual fluent in English and Spanish and/or Hmong
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
