Job Description

Job Description:Oversees and manages functions of the Innovation and Design Center(formerly the District Library Media Center) Circulation to include but not limited to the print and electronic collection, equipment, kits, and any additional items that are circulated to schools. Works with district librarians, teachers, administrators, staff, and home school families to provide training on use and access of all library resources. Maintains and inventories all circulating items. Develops and promotes good relations among school Learning Commons, teachers, administrators, and community members. Serves walk in patrons in all functions.

     

Responsibilities:

Perform necessary and appropriate record keeping and data collection. Perform yearly inventory of all equipment and materials. Deselect resources as needed.

Research authoritative reviews, read novels, and follow the district novel adoption process to enhance student learning and supplement district collections.

Ensure that technology items are in working condition, kits are inventoried with all items present and in good condition, and are accessible to patrons. 

Research technology trends and new developments to recommend new innovative resources for purchase to support student learning

Website, Google Site, and electronic newsletter creation and maintenance.

Update and create documents needed to enhance communication to include but not limited to contact lists, email lists, warehouse delivery schedules, etc.

Serve as a resource person pertaining to materials and services offered, coordinating and communicating with the school community as appropriate.

Should have extensive knowledge of the materials and be able to make novel, technology, and instructional resource recommendations to teachers and staff to support the learning in the classroom. 

Provide exemplary library services to walk-in patrons and patrons via phone and email.

May perform some duties outside of the IDC that may include visiting with schools, presenting to DCSD staff about the resources available at the IDC, weeding school collections, and moving collections.


Collaborate with teammates to accomplish its strategic plan and to support the library program and students in DCSD.


Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Circulate a wide variety of quality resources on a daily basis using web based software, to the DCSD community.

Shelve books, create displays, market resources, and organize and maintain resources and the building spaces

Maintain and troubleshoot technology and software used in the Innovation and Design Center including monitoring related help desk tickets for resolution of issues. 

In collaboration with the director, align and update the district media collection as the curriculum changes by analyzing and evaluating current and available resources and selecting based on needs and demands of all patrons, following the district selection policy.
