Job Description

1. Maintain the District’s SirsiDynix integrated library system and work with the ASCC consortium in the selection process for a new ILS. Recommends future improvements; coordinates and assists in installing, upgrading and troubleshooting electronic information sources used in support of the ILS. 2. Plan migration to a new system once it has been selected including database cleanup and upgrade 3. Supervise acquisitions, cataloging and ILL for a five branch Library District including planning for weeding and more centralization of collection purchasing. 4. Train and supervise copy catalogers and ILL staff 5. Participate on the District Management team to plan and develop library service, plan budgets and conduct strategic planning. 6. Develop and supervise a maintenance program for District computers and create District Technology Plan. 7. Develop and deliver software, technology, and computer training for staff 8. Train staff on use of ILS, act as a bridge between technical and non-technical staff. 9. Produce statistical reports and planning documents 10. Assist in selection of licensed databases, software and hardware. Acts as liaison to vendors. 11. Assist in maintenance of District website 12. Participates in community and professional activities 13. Manages special projects as assigned 14. Works under general supervision of the Library Director

Additional Info & Requirements

1. Demonstrated original cataloging experience, using MARC formats & AACR2 2. Experience in maintaining and updating MARC records 3. Experience with copy cataloging and training and supervising copy catalogers 4. Minimum one year’s experience in maintaining an integrated library system and Ability to take a leadership role in selection process for new ILS 5. Experience in selection, acquisition, weeding and all aspects of collection development and ability to provide leadership to selection team. 6. Experience developing and delivering classes on technology and software for staff 7. Experience searching ILS for statistical information and creating reports for administration and planning processes 8. Ability to work on a management team to plan service and procedures for multi-branch library district.
