Job Description

The job description summarizes the Director’s responsibilities as follows: “The Director serves as the Executive Officer of the Community Library Network, a Library District, and is hired by the Board of Trustees. The Director provides the highest level of executive leadership and with integrity, honesty and knowledge, promotes the culture and mission of the Community Library Network. The primary functions of the Director are to deliver excellent member experiences to all community libraries while adhering to District policy as set by the Board of Trustees, state law as defined in Idaho Code 33-27 and federal law. The Director must be forward thinking, able to anticipate future library service and technology needs, and use initiative and creativity to implement change across the District.”

Additional Info & Requirements

The Community Library Network is governed by the Board of Trustees, elected by residents of the District. In accordance with Idaho Code, the Trustees are responsible for establishing and overseeing library policies, establishing an annual budget and overseeing the finances of the library, and participating in the creation of the District’s strategic plan. The Board also hires and evaluates the Library Director.
