PublicRole: Catalogs fiction & non-fiction materials in print, electronic, and A/V formats and maintains catalog database accuracy.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
50% - COPY CATALOGING - Searches OCLC for exact copy, edits the MARC record using national and local standards, and imports into local Horizon database.
20% - ORIGINAL CATALOGING - Creates original MARC records for contribution to OCLC, using Anglo-American Cataloging Rules Second Edition (AACR2) for description, Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) for subject analysis, and Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) for classification.
10% - CATALOG MAINTENANCE – Maintain and update name, subject heading, and series authority records in Horizon database to ensure accurate information in the database.
10% - CATALOGING QUALITY CONTROL – Checks description and accuracy of cataloging and processing of items cataloged by outside vendors to ensure adherence to national and local standards.
10% - OTHER DUTIES – Supports processing function by attaching spine labels and other processing tasks, assists Supervisor with special projects, and acts as cataloging resource to other staff for cataloging questions to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Master's Degree
Coursework in cataloging/technical services (preferred)
One to two years of experience (preferred)
Reading knowledge of Spanish language (preferred)
Skill in basic computer operation
2 years of professional experience preferred
Spanish is Preferred
