The Director serves as the chief executive officer and administers all day-to-day library operations including collection, circulation, personnel, technology and information services, programs facilities, and other administrative duties under the general direction of, and in collaboration with the Board of Trustees. The Director must be committed to the mission and philosophy of the library and all public library services. The Director must be knowledgeable of current library science and technology and possess strong organizational, decision-making, leadership supervisory, grant-writing, and marketing skills. the Director is an active community member.
You are a visionary, think out-of-the-box type person, one who gets things done, encourages and motivates others. You display a strong power of observation and the ability to encourage employees to learn and promote new trends, services and programs of the library.
You recognize the financial implications of all management decisions. Your positive insight and development of solutions will provide strong cost control measures to ensure desired results by establishing and making realistic budget objectives.
You will participate in the formulation of policies and development of procedures and will interpret policy and explain procedure to the public and will use your communicative skills to bolster the organization's image.
The Dolores Public Library is located on the banks of the Dolores River which flows through the town of Dolores, Colorado in the Four Corners region where the mountains meet the desert, and close to many national parks, monuments and forests. Dolores is a small town with a large community spirit located in Montezuma County (approx. 950 town pop., 30,000 county pop). Not only do we have the Dolores River flowing through town, but McPhee, the second largest reservoir in the state sits at our front door. Our school system is one of the highest rated in the state. The area offers many advantages to nature enthusiasts, civic and service-minded individuals, families, land and animal owners and outdoor recreationists ---biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing, kayaking and boating.
The Dolores Public Library serves the public: residents of the area., seasonal homeowners, tourists, regular visitors, and many, many more. Our doors are open to every citizen.
