Job Description

What You’ll Do:

Work at the new Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales Branch, 1498 Irving St., to create positive experiences for library customers of all ages by implementing services designed for those seeking computer instruction and use. Staff the computer center service desk and answer technology related questions.  Assist customers in using the Library’s public access computers, databases and online resources.  Help customers with a wide range of technology related needs such as downloading music, editing videos, creating documents and using mobile devices. Conduct one-on-one training and computer classes for customers and staff.  Participate in developing and updating instructional materials.  Perform lead work for positive program experiences including the use of a digital studio space.  Work in conjunction with DPL’s Network Services staff to determine needs and maintain equipment.  Promote customer understanding of various DPL programs and branch events.  

You Have:

Knowledge of a wide range of software applications including the Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Office suite and other web applications. Knowledge of the aspects of a library's operations and procedures, including the functions of an Integrated Library System.  Knowledge of online trends and popular culture.  Skill in interpreting, communicating and presenting information to a diverse customer base.  Ability to use library specific software such as PC reservation, print release, online calendaring and circulation software.  Ability to thrive in a working environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups.  Ability to demonstrate technical competencies at a high level.  Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and the community.  Ability to work with inter-generational and multilingual audiences.  Ability to facilitate programming to various group sizes.  Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner.  Ability to follow written and oral instructions.  Ability to work with attention to detail.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use extensive workplace and other technology including email, internet, databases, social media and other software.  Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.

A high school diploma or equivalent.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Two years of technology support or training experience in a library.

Familiarity with graphics manipulation software, audio/video creation software and mobile applications.  

Spanish language fluency (preferred, not required).

Excellent customer service skills.

We Provide:

$17.74 - $21.82 per hour starting salary range; $17.74 - $25.90 per hour full salary range.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, offers are typically made within the starting salary range and depend on qualifications.  The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered. 

Regular, full-time, 40 hours per week.  The schedule will be determined by the needs of the branch and will include evening and weekend hours.
