Job Description
The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon Ct, an historic institution, offers an array of programs and activities for adults and children, in addition to maintaining a sizable collection of books and other materials. Open seven days a week, the library is the cultural center of the community. To fund its operations, the library relies heavily on patron support. The executive director is responsible for overseeing programming as well as fundraising to sustain the library and fulfill its mission. Responsibilities also include supervision of its physical plant and all aspects of its operations. He/She will serve as the face of the library to internal and external constituencies, including the board, staff, patrons, local officials and the public. The executive director is responsible for sound business planning as well as the preparation of and adherence to budgets. Working with the staff, the executive director will direct marketing and public relations efforts to increase support for the library and reach the largest possible audiences. He/She keeps abreast of developments in technology and implements those that are relevent to the library. It is preferred that the candidate have a Masters in Library Science and at least 3-5 years leading educational/arts programs or institutions.
Compensation: The Hotchkiss LIbrary of Sharon is prepared to offer a salary in the $50,000+ range depending on experience.
