Job Description

LSSI is seeking a forward thinking Regional Manager for Public Library Services in Southern California.  It is ideal for a dynamic and experienced library professional with a passion for exceptional library service.  The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of library professionals who are committed to creating thriving libraries in the heart of our communities.  Candidate should have a demonstrated knowledge of sound public library management principles, best practices, trends, and current professional theories along with the ability to provide exceptional guidance and mentoring to the library staff in the region, especially the Library Directors.  Ability to inspire staff with creative new ideas for enhancing library services while growing the use of and support for library services among the public and strategic partners. Able to exercise good judgment, along with the ability to communicate effectively and positively with various government and community groups.  This is a highly visible position requiring a professional librarian capable of working closely with LSSI, local officials, library boards, and community stakeholders to nurture and develop library responsiveness to local public needs and community priorities.

Additional Info & Requirements

• Experience analyzing and applying financial reports and library related data (usage, demographics, trends, etc.)
• Experience in a role that requires frequent interaction with customers, fulfilling the requests of customers and responsibility for addressing customer issues, questions and suggestions
• Demonstrated successful experience in a complex, fast-paced environment

The Community

The Regional Manager for Public Services-Southern California position will be based out of a home office, located within easy driving distance of Santa Clarita, Camarillo, Moorpark, Simi Valley, and Palmdale areas.  The selected individual will also be overseeing Shasta County and eventually Jackson County, which would require overnight travel out of the area.
