The Children and Family Services Librarian plans, conducts, and evaluates high quality youth and family-friendly programming and library services on behalf of the Clearview Library District. This position works closely with elementary schools in the Weld RE-4 School District, ensuring access to library collections, services, and programs.
Programming: Plans, conducts, and evaluates a regular schedule of programs and events for children and their families. Collaborates on high quality promotional material for programs and services. Compiles essential statistics regarding program participation and attendance and makes program suggestions based on statistical data. Participates in near and long term planning for children and family programming. Manages both of the Library District’s Storywalk installments (locations in Windsor and Severance), including selecting and changing the story every two months, ensuring the installment is well maintained, advertising story changes, and conducting storytime programming with each story change. Provides support and oversight to paraprofessional library assistants who conduct children’s programs.
Collection Development: Develops, evaluates, and maintains a vibrant, diverse, and relevant collection for children, including print materials (fiction chapter books, non-fiction books, graphic novels), non-print materials (audio books, DVDs), and other items appropriate for the children’s collection.
Partnerships and Relationship Building: Identifies and develops opportunities throughout the community for partnerships. Builds and maintains relationships with home school families, schools, and other agencies serving children and families. Makes regular contact and visits with the local school district to disseminate relevant library information.
Services: Provides reader’s advisory services for children and families. Assists children with the use of the library and its resources. Assists parents and other adults in the selection of appropriate children’s material. Creates title lists and other such material to promote collections. Attends and participates in children's services meetings and library committees, and contributes to cooperative efforts to support system-wide children’s services, functions and programs.
