The library director is responsible for personnel management, especially maintaining and fostering a positive work environment and library climate, and creating an atmosphere of cooperation and positive communication. The library director will also collaborate and liaison with local government and educational professionals. The library director's work hours are flexible between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm. The library director should not work more than 40 hours per week. Reimbursable travel is required, as the library director must spend time at each branch every week. Both libraries have a branch manager and library assistants.
Fort Lewis Mesa and Sunnyside Public Libraries serve rural, agricultural communities. Housed inside public schools, the libraries assist the school by providing library services to elementary school children. Both libraries are also vibrant community centers, providing interesting and engaging adult services.
