Work Leader for the Centennial Campus (CC) learning commons front desk, the initial point-of-contact for patrons in the space. Ensures that respectful and inclusive customer service is delivered by student staff and other front desk employees Customer service includes guidance on learning commons resources, study spaces, and services such as tutoring and library reference, as well as locating print and online resources. Supervises front desk student staff. Ensures that facility and equipment repairs are reported. Responsible to manage circulation department procedures at the CC location. Oversees the CC learning commons periodical, reserves, and circulating materials collections.
Primary duties include:
- Provides and models professional behavior through respectful and inclusive customer service that promotes a respectful, welcoming and inclusive environment in the learning commons.
- Monitors the learning commons/library public areas is required.
- Demonstrate knowledgeable service for college departments and locations, tutoring services, circulation processes and task, library materials and services.
- Problem-solve and diffuse student staff and customer service issues & difficult situations with a professional demeanor.
- Ensures front desk staff follow learning commons guidance and procedures.
- Works cooperatively with tutoring department staff, learning commons leadership, library staff, and college personnel.
- Designs notifications to patrons concerning hours of operation, policies, procedures or other pertinent information.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the front desk.
- Uses designated software programs to create study room reservations and tutoring requests.
- Opens and closes library.
- Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates front desk student staff on customer service expectations, circulation procedures, learning commons guidelines and procedures, and tasks; creates schedules and assigns projects for student staff.
- Monitors work quality of student staff.
- Ensures student staff provide inclusive and respectful customer service at all times.
- Corrects inappropriate behaviors and errors in task performance while adhering to policy disciplinary procedures when necessary.
- Solves student staff issues effecting the operations and standards of the work unit.
- Collects and submits student staff timesheets.
Additional duties include:
- Oversees circulation department guidelines and procedures at the Centennial Campus (CC) learning commons.
- Accesses catalog software to check in/out all materials, renewals, places holds, creates patron accounts, and ensures that patron records are correct.
- Oversees the CC library overdue and missing or lost processes, including accurate recordkeeping, mailing or emailing notices to patrons weekly, and timely submissions to the college financial office.
- Ensures that periodical collection processes are completed daily, submits claims, and collects usage statistics.
- Oversees established procedures for overseeing the Reserves collection.
- Participates in reviews of learning commons guidelines and procedures; updates CC learning commons staff with official changes lo guidelines and procedures.
- Collaborates with circulation department staff to review and update department procedures.
- Shelves returned materials and maintains the organization of the reserve collection and Library of Congress Classification system of the circulating and reference collections.
- Able to professionally communicate orally and in written form.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of general library experience including ordering, shelving and maintaining library materials. This includes working in an Integrated Library System (ILS). Your application must be completed in detail documenting your library experience and working with an Integrated Library System. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

SUBSTITUTION:
Two years (60 semester credits) of college, university or non-correspondence business school from an accredited institution which included eighteen (12) semester hours of library science course work may substitute for the general library experience.
