Join our fun and creative youth services team! Assist Library patrons at a public reference desk in a dynamic and busy Children’s and Teens’ Department. Recommend reading and other resources for purposes of education, information, and entertainment. Collaborate with a team of librarians to offer great reader’s advisory with an Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity lens and share ideas on how to improve our skills. Prepare a collection development plan for the Teen collections. Select new materials, identify materials for removal from the collection, and manage an assigned acquisitions budget all with an Equity lens and attention to the diversity of the collection. Develop and present enriching and fun library programs for birth-17 year olds. This includes Storytimes and a focus on Teen Programs. Performs outreach services to the community. Seeks out professional development opportunities as a life-long learner and values actionable steps to make our Library more equitable and inclusive of diverse voices, internally and externally. Knowledge of how to serve and welcome Spanish speakers at the Library in culturally affirmative and appropriate ways is important. Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in library science or related field and two years’ library experience requiring strong customer service and teamwork skills. Performance at this level requires advanced customer service skills, knowledge of library operations, and ability to provide advanced reference assistance. Special Qualifications: Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred. The selection process will include complete job description review, personal interview, computer testing, background investigation, criminal background check, and substance screening.
