The Hiring Range for this position is: $62,376.80 - $77,971.00/Annually

Position Information
This is your chance to improve the lives of so many through public library service! Create positive impact on the Northwest Aurora neighborhood at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, used by a diverse group of patrons who come from all over the world with diverse educational and socio-economic backgrounds. We are looking for a dynamic person who is interested in getting to know the community, partners and patrons. This Michael Brendle designed library currently has a design plan to expand to a second floor. The successful candidate will be looking at how to expand services once the library doubles in size. This library has the potential to become the community hub of original Aurora, but has not yet realized its full programming and service potential. Be the person who helps drive such an important and lasting change in this historical and diverse neighborhood!
Locations: Will work primarily at an assigned location, hours may change based on business need. May be required to occasionally to substitute at another Aurora Library location based on staffing needs.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Library (9898 E. Colfax Ave. Aurora, CO 80010)
Primary hours will include days, nights, and weekends. Hours are subject to change dependent upon department needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functions as the onsite supervisor and is responsible for providing leadership, managing branch staff, including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures
- Working with staff to create and implement goals that support the library’s Annual Plan and Strategic Plan
- Creating staffing schedules and plans
- Reviewing and analyzing data to reach library output goals, accountable for achieving location’s key results
- Providing and implementing current policy and procedure, as well as recommendations for future changes
- Planning, implementing, and overseeing programming for all ages at a branch library
- Providing daily help to patrons and responding to difficult and complex customer service issues
- Administering and tracking budgets and expenditures
- The primary focus for this position is daily operations management and staff supervision, the secondary focus is programming and outreach
- Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
- Master’s degree in library science
Experience:
- At least three (3) years of professional librarian experience
- At least one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred knowledge of Sierra ILS
- Ability to speak a second language is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
- When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
- Light physical work that involves moving no more than 20 pounds at a time
- Frequent lifting, carrying, walking and standing
- May require frequent pushing, pulling, bending and stooping
- Clear vision to read and interpret reports and other written documents
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
- Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard, carts and moveable shelving
Work Environment:
- Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment with a designated office and shared workstations and equipment
- This job is best suited for someone who likes to work on multiple tasks and projects at once due to working in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of competing interests
- Occasionally works nights and weekends
- Works primarily indoors but may work outdoors assisting with a program or outreach events in varying weather conditions
Equipment Used:
- Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email, internet, Word, Excel and menu driven databases as a part of the Library automated systems
- This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
