Branch Supervisor, Sheridan Library

Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Branch Supervisor to guide the Sheridan Library team in delivering inclusive, community-centered service. Sheridan Library is a close-knit neighborhood branch located near local schools, where families, youth, and neighbors come together to learn, connect, and explore. About the Role

Sheridan Library is a welcoming, community-focused branch serving patrons of all ages, with a strong connection to local families and schools. Many of our visitors are Spanish speaking, and the Branch Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring access to resources, programs, and technology for all. In this leadership role, you will oversee daily operations, foster teamwork, and nurture staff growth through mentorship and coaching. Your ability to balance people, process, and purpose will help ensure Sheridan Library continues to thrive as a trusted, inclusive space for connection and discovery.

Key Responsibilities

Branch Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including building maintenance, safety, and service continuity.
  • Allocate resources effectively and prioritize workflows for smooth operations.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure high-quality patron experiences
  • Support collection maintenance and provide direct public service at least 4 hours each week.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor new staff.
  • Support ongoing staff development through feedback, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Lead by example, working alongside staff to promote teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Serve as an on-call leader and contribute to district-wide planning and initiatives.

Patron Relations and Community Engagement

  • Model and promote inclusive service and positive patron interactions.
  • De-escalate challenging situations and resolve patron or staff concerns with professionalism.
  • Foster strong relationships with community members and participate in outreach opportunities.
  • Support bilingual engagement and ensure Spanish-speaking patrons have full access to resources and programs.

District and Cross-Functional Contributions

  • Participate in district committees, project teams, or trainings as assigned.
  • Support organizational goals through change leadership and input on strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Two years of relevant experience in library or customer service settings.
  • Two to four years of demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring others.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel between facilities and work evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Edge.
  • Proactive problem-solving, confidentiality, and independent initiative.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with public library systems, customer service technologies, and scheduling tools.
  • Experience working with youth or teens
  • Experience working with diverse populations in community-facing roles.
  • Interest in learning and applying emerging technologies in patron service.
