The City of Westminster is seeking a creative and collaborative librarian who loves working with teens (ages 12-18)! The Teen Services Librarian position is responsible for designing and delivering innovative programming, providing reference and readers’ advisory to all ages, and supporting outreach efforts.
The Teen Services Librarian regularly works the information desk, provides outstanding customer service, answers an array of technology and reference questions, and creates engaging displays to highlight the library’s collection. The Teen Librarian also serves on library-wide committees, works on special projects as needed, partners with local schools, and supports a variety of collection maintenance tasks.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks
- Provide a range of patron services, including:
- outstanding customer service to staff members and library patrons of all ages at the Information Desk
- excellent readers’ advisory services to patrons of all ages and across genres, especially teens and adults
- professional and effective reference interviews and research
- assistance with library technology for all ages and abilities
- Plan, execute, and support programs for primarily teen audiences, including:
- in-house library events that reflect an awareness of current and future trends in library programming
- programs, tours, and outreach events for user groups such as schools, community organizations, caregivers, and other librarians
- programs and events in partnership with other departments and divisions within the city, with neighboring libraries, and with local businesses
- special events within the library and/or for the City at large, which often includes serving on (e.g.) the Summer Reading Committee
- Support the Collection Development team by:
- weeding library materials based on a high level of familiarity with teen collections at both facilities
- anticipating patron demand for subject material and making recommendations for specific items to purchase
- creating engaging materials displays with commitment to diversity and inclusion
- advocating for physical and e-resources that might be used by students, school librarians, or other community partners
- Supervise volunteers, support associates, and assist with staff scheduling and training, as needed
- Address and resolve complaints from patrons and/or staff, or forward to supervisor as necessary
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Westminster sits just north of Denver, with easy access to both the big city and Rocky Mountain National Park. Though College Hill Library is a dynamic, mid-sized public library, we share space and resources with Front Range Community College.
