The CO Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) Libraries are where you will contribute to the Hospital's mission: To support individuals experiencing serious mental health challenges in achieving their recovery goals and reaching their full potential.
This is a part-time position with full-time impact. The Medical Staff Library and the Patient Library serve a range of customers and support patient care and treatment. Our patrons include both health professionals and adults with long-term/chronic severe mental health conditions. You will have an impact through education, research, readers’ advisory, and ultimately, contribute to our patients’ recovery.
These libraries offer the opportunity to do a bit of everything. On any given day you may be finding articles for staff on treatment options, deciding which new books to order for the patient library, filling ILL requests, keeping up with new technology and new developments in the field of mental health, and promoting library services. At the CMHHIFL libraries we strive to reduce barriers to information access. For instance, taking a library cart to all patient treatment units each week means that every patient has access to the Patient Library collection; delivering materials to our busy 24-7 staff ensures that they all have access to current information.
But wait -- there’s fun, too! You might use your artistic flair to make posters, use your creativity to market library services, or use your unique skills to participate in hospital committees and activities. There’s room to explore all your hidden talents.
This position is for 20 hours per week, working with the librarian to provide library service both to our staff and our adult patients. No weekends, possibly Tuesday evenings (only if it works for you, we're flexible). Willing to work with your schedule to provide coverage Monday-Friday in both libraries.

CMHHIFL is one of two state psychiatric hospitals serving Colorado residents with acute mental illnesses and/or court-ordered inpatient restoration treatment. Our vision is to provide exemplary inpatient psychiatric care to residents in Colorado with acute, serious and persistent mental health needs. CMHHIFL provides inpatient treatment to adult clients generally between the ages of 18 and 59. The hospital has 94 civil adult inpatient beds and 44 forensic beds (adding more soon). Medical, rehabilitation services (physical, occupational and speech therapy) and clinical programming are available to clients based on their treatment needs. CMHHIFL supports hope, health and recovery through innovative, evidence-based, and individualized patient care.
The Medical Staff Library meets the informational, educational, and research-related needs of the clinical, administrative, and support services staff members and students in clinical training. We provide current journals and books, reference services, document delivery, ILL, and manage the databases and catalog.
The Patient Library provides current books, magazines, ebooks, and audiobooks for recreational and educational reading, available to all patients.
