Job Description

Title:  Project Assistant

Status:  Part-time, Temporary (estimated dates May 18-August 28), 19 hours/week (hours to be completed Mon-Fri between the hours of 8am-4pm)

Reports to:  Executive Director and/or Associate Director of the Sherlock Center and Assistant Director of Technical Services at Adams Library

Compensation: $20-22/hour

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Performs various duties, as assigned by the Assistant Director of Technical Services at Adams Library, in support of moving and processing the physical collections of the Sherlock Center Resource Library, to provide greater access for Rhode Island teachers and residents to the unique Sherlock Center holdings related to special education and specific disability topics.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

·      Verify collection materials and condition

·      Complete end processing, including labeling and confirming kit contents

·      Data entry for library records as needed

·      Assist with unloading or moving collection containers within Adams Library

·      Assist with shelving of collection

Occasional Job Functions: Perform other duties as related to the Sherlock Center Resource Library project as assigned by the Assistant Director of Technical Services, Adams Library Director and/or Executive Director or Associate Director of the Sherlock Center.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and minimum of one year of library or education experience

Preferred Education: Enrollment in a Master’s degree program for Library and Information Science or Education

Skills, knowledge and Abilities:

·      Knowledge of or ability to learn organization of library materials

·      Attention to detail

·      Skill in using computer software applications

·      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·      Flexibility

·      Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·      Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
