E-Resources Licensing Practicum
Job Description
The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries is seeking a graduate student currently enrolled in an MLIS program who will assist the Collection Sustainability Team with e-resource licensing. Under the supervision and instruction of the E-Resources Acquisitions & Licensing Librarian, the successful candidate will develop an understanding of practices related to the licensing of electronic resources, including the negotiation of pricing and terms of use for e-resources, and will develop functional expertise with the FOLIO LSP and other specialized tools. The successful candidate will learn how to integrate organizational values of open scholarship, accessibility, fair use, and user privacy into e-resource agreements. Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Master of Library & Information Science program during the course of the practicum. Due to the specialized nature of the work, only current MLIS students may apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in pursuing a career in academic librarianship, particularly in acquisitions, collection development, or a related area.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and productively.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills.
- Experience with or interest in electronic resources and academic publishing is a plus.
Additional Information
This program begins in June 2026 and runs through mid-August of the same year, with the exact start date negotiable. The successful candidate is expected to complete approximately 200 hours of work (roughly 20 hours per week for the length of the 10-week program) with a pay range of $20.00/hr. Work modality will be primarily in-person at Norlin Library, University of Colorado Boulder, with some opportunities for remote work.
