Job Description
Role:
Assists Collection Resources Department staff in processing and circulating library materials.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
50% - CIRCULATION - Checks in returned materials and sorts and routes the materials to their proper location in order prepare materials for shelving.
35% - PROCESSING - Adds barcodes and RFID tags, jackets and covers books, repackages new and old items to fit security cases, deletes barcodes in Horizon, and stamps books with “discard” stamp in order to prepare materials for circulation or discarding, cleans CD and DVD surfaces with automatic cleaner and cleaning agents.
15% - SHELVING, SHELF READING AND SHIFTING - Shelves library materials by loading carts with returned materials; placing materials on the appropriate shelf according to Dewey decimal number, author name, or title in order to return materials to library shelves. Shifts and straightens materials to correct the order as needed.
