Department Information:
Libraries Information Technology (LIT) provides services and support for a broad range of information technology (IT) activities for the University Libraries. The department works in close partnership with all other Libraries units, the Office of Information Technology and University Information Systems, and a broad array of third-party vendors. The LIT department centralizes IT infrastructure and related services including IT strategy, webmaster functions, web development, coordination and support of digital user experience testing, digitization services, audio-visual media production, and IT support of libraries operations, new libraries service initiatives, and libraries faculty research. Services critical to the instructional and research missions of the University are provided 24/7/365 to the entire campus community as well as to all citizens of Colorado and Wyoming in keeping with the campus’s participation in the federal depository program.
Job Responsibilities:
This position administers and supports the integrated library system Innovative’s Sierra and related products (Encore, Research Pro, etc.) as well as the interlibrary loan system (ILLiad). This includes:
a) Managing all systems operations and overseeing the production of statistical reports.
b) Acting as primary contact to appropriate vendors for acquiring add-on modules, reporting problems, and requesting support.
c) Installing and testing all system upgrades and add-on modules.
d) Working collaboratively to support Libraries employees by researching, evaluating, recommending, and testing new software, hardware, and techniques for information delivery that improve access and are compatible with the existing systems.
e) Recommending software and hardware solutions that are compatible with and complementary to the existing systems.
f) Serving as one of the representatives of the Libraries to address logistical issues with the INN-Reach consortial borrowing system (Prospector).
g) Working with the Director of Libraries IT to predict trends, evaluate long range needs, and recommend solutions for library systems and library logistical issues.
h) Working in collaboration with ILL and relevant units to implement new applications/modules that interface with ILLiad or other ILL related products (Sierra APIs, Relais, etc.)
i) In collaboration with appropriate committee(s), creating and reviewing ILS/interlibrary loan procedures to ensure consistency with Libraries policies and communicating changes and new procedures.
j) Project management of multiple projects related to these library systems.
k) Identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
This position educates Library employees through providing training on relevant modules of the above systems including upgrades and add-on modules; advises the Director of Libraries IT, the Management Team, and the Executive Committee on matters concerning the ILS, the interlibrary loan system, and associated technology; works collaboratively with other members of the User Experience and Web Team (in Libraries IT) and appropriate Libraries committees to ensure optimization of all catalog and patron discovery interfaces, troubleshoots access issues for licensed content, and maintains proxy server software; and acts as a backup Webmaster for all catalog and patron discovery interfaces.
Note: This position may need to perform work outside of normal business hours to perform system updates, maintenance, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience supporting or managing applications may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
• One year of professional experience supporting, managing or troubleshooting library systems or applications, which included experience with Innovative’s Millennium or Sierra integrated library system platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
1. System administration experience with Innovative’s Millennium or Sierra, preferably including experience with Load Profile tables.
2. System administration and/or application support experience with OCLC’s ILLiad interlibrary loan management system.
3. Experience acting as a webmaster for Innovative’s WebPac Pro and Encore Synergy.
4. Knowledge of circulation, interlibrary loan, serials, cataloging, archives, and acquisitions workflows.
5. Knowledge of library cataloging practices, including MARC and AACR2/RDA, and/or experience working with other kinds of library data.
6. Experience documenting procedures.
7. Experience with automation of manual tasks.
