Douglas County Libraries is currently seeking an energetic and highly-motivated Adult Services Librarian that embraces and leads us in building bright futures for all our patrons, creating connections with our communities and providing outstanding customer experiences. Our professional position serves as a leader and mentor within DCL and our communities. The position is responsible for collection maintenance, patron instruction and research assistance. Tasks include planning, coordinating and implementing library services, programs and outreach.  This position leads and supports the District's Mission and Core Values. Work is performed in a collaborative environment that recognizes and supports independent judgment and initiative.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Exceptional patron service, which includes the ability to effectively assist patrons of all ages in using reference tools, conducting in-depth research, locating materials, managing accounts and instructing patrons in the use of resources across formats and platforms.
  • Strong technology skills and expertise with computer software, library databases, and downloadable technology to utilize with patrons, and other professional responsibilities.
  • A willingness to explore, learn and teach new skills, to support inter-departmental needs and grow services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that reflect a positive attitude toward staff, volunteers and patrons of all ages.

ADDITIONALLY, YOU:

  • Will serve as a Person-in-Charge (PIC) within the branch.
  • Must work effectively independently or cooperatively as part of a team, maintaining effective working relationships to complete assigned tasks and accomplish job responsibilities.
  • Use discretion in addressing problem situations or conflicts at the appropriate level.
