POSITION TITLE: Reference Librarian
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Administrative, Full-time
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This full-time position exists to develop, promote, and deliver information literacy training and programs within the Library & Learning Commons. This position is responsible for library reference services and information literacy learning outcomes at ACC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reference Services within the Learning Commons:
Provide library reference services in person at the reference desk, via phone, and internet.
30%
Information Literacy Instruction:
Provide individual, classroom, and online instruction in information literacy to students, faculty, and staff across disciplines.
15%
Digital Reference Support:
Maintain and promote information literacy materials on the Library’s website, including subject guides and video tutorials. Provide online reference help via the AskAcademic portal.
10%
Collection Development:
Connect with liaison Department Chairs, Faculty, and Instructors to ensure the print and digital collections meet the needs of the Department.

Minimum Qualification:
- Master’s degree of Library Science or Master’s degree of Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes 4 nights/week during regular semesters with an occasional Saturday
- Demonstrated understanding of principles and best practices of information literacy instruction
- Ability to work with web-based tools (particularly LibGuides and Webex)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to reference services that utilize print and digital resources
- Strong interpersonal and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work productively, both independently and as part of a team
- Time management and organizational skills to balance a varied workload
- One or more years of experience providing library reference services to a diverse student body at a community college or institution of higher education
- Experience teaching information literacy in a classroom setting
- Expertise developing and implementing information literacy programs in relation to student learning outcomes and assessment
- Strong desire to be aware of current library issues and trends
- Demonstrated passion for supporting students and faculty
