Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library is seeking a full-time Librarian II Cataloger to lead our cataloging team.
The Candidate must be passionate about understanding how patrons search and the best way to provide access to materials. Responsibilities:
- Perform original cataloging and maintain bibliographic control.
- Coordinate all cataloging operations for physical and digital materials
- Develop & document standard procedures & practices to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the library’s bibliographic, item, serial and patron databases
- Work collaboratively with the library’s management team to develop strategies for continuous improvement of the library’s services and collections
Develop good working relationships with vendors- Manage Government Document collection
- Work directly with the Front Range Library Consortium to develop and maintain consortial cataloging standards and improvements
- Supervise and train staff who catalog and process materials
- Collaborate with the Collection Development and E-Resources Librarians.
- Staff public service desk as assigned
- Collect, compile and distribute ILS statistics and reports
Required Qualifications
- MLS from an ALA accredited institution
- Recent experience cataloging a variety of bibliographic and physical formats in an integrated library system
- Experience working with LCSH and LCC systems, RDA standards, MARC format, and standard cataloging practices
- Experience with name, subject, and series authority control
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities showing initiative, flexibility and a desire for process improvement
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualification
- Experience cataloging in the Innovative Interfaces (III) library systems, particularly Sierra
- Supervisory experience, including training
- Experience providing public reference service
- Proficiency in technology and an interest in emerging trends
- Experience and interest in analyzing data.
- Experience in project management
- Experience with digital repository metadata and BIBFRAME
- Experience working in a multi-library consortial environment
