Job Description
The ideal candidate must have a strong service ethic to join the Wilkinson Public Library’s energetic, customer-service oriented staff. The Reference Librarian will be responsible for general public reference, including readers advisory, online database searching and instruction. The Reference Librarian will also have collection development responsibilities for a part of the collection, the management of Inter-library Loan requests and other duties that may be assigned. The successful candidate will have experience providing information literacy and/or outreach and merchandising of a library collection.
Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of publishing trends, skill with technology in libraries. Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and excellent working relationships with other employees and all members of the general public. Spanish language skills preferred.
The Community
The Wilkinson Public Library in Telluride, Colorado is in a small mountain community and resort area. The Library District’s permanent population is 5,500 and the library serves more than 9,000 library card holders with seasonal visitors. The library is a community center for the area, providing programming for all ages, and a large collection of books, DVDs, music and electronic resources. The library’s motto is, “Outstanding communities deserve outstanding libraries.”
