The City of Louisville is looking for a Temporary Children's Librarian I. This position is under the general direction of the Children's Services Supervisor, performs professional duties in Children's Services. Provides reference services, reader's advisory, instruction, programming, and circulation functions for children and their families, as well as outreach services to schools and the community. Provides assistance to Children's Librarians in weeding and pre-selection of library materials. Performs other work as required. Schedule includes evening and weekend hours.
This position is Temporary for approximately 6-months.
Hiring Range: $22.64 - 26.04/hour

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Knowledge of STEAM education and ability to create STEAM programming.
Skill in searching library databases, cataloging utilities, and the Internet.
Ability to work in a changing environment.
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
Ability to assist patrons in locating information and materials.
Ability to respect the privacy of individual users.
Ability to plan and conduct library programs.
Ability to exercise considerable initiative and judgment.
