What You'd Do
Work in the Collection Development Office to develop reporting from a variety of sources including the Integrated Library System (ILS), vendor websites, Power BI and Google Analytics. Gather data and create reports to provide the collection specialists with necessary data to make informed selection decisions and determine systemwide materials allocations. Work directly with staff in the branches to maintain library collections, provide accurate inventories, and merchandise library materials. Adjust floating collection settings and collection limits in the ILS. Gather statistics to identify service improvements for all three Collection Services departments: the Collection Development Office, Interlibrary Loan and Technical Access Services. Assist with workflow tracking. Assist with user research to understand how library customers find materials, use the online catalog, and access physical and digital collections. Perform copy cataloging on an as needed basis.
You Have
A passion for data and statistical analysis. Knowledge of publishing trends. Knowledge of customer centered cataloging practices. Knowledge and understanding of CREW methodology (Continuous Review, Evaluation, and Weeding). Skill with spreadsheets, reports and data visualization. Skill and experience using reporting features in an Integrated Library System (ILS). Skill in interpreting, communicating and presenting information. Skill in eye-catching display design and merchandising of library materials. Skill in attention to detail. Ability to provide training in collection maintenance. Ability to travel to all 26 locations in the Denver Public Library system. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, co-workers and community. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multitask and prioritize. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to pass a background check after offer of employment has been made.
A Master's in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or plans to receive one within 90 days of hire.
A valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record and a vehicle.
Experience with Google Analytics, the Polaris ILS and SQL (preferred, not required).
